The name format: is derived from the Latin word formare, which means to mould, to shape and to form—a core principle that characterises our brand and aims to transform existing conventions. The colon symbolises openness, unlimited possibilities, continuity and change—it encourages further exploration and interpretation, a bridge to all that is to come.
Each piece of jewelry is thoughtfully shaped, crafted by hand and guided by the organic flow of the materials itself. Inspired by the raw elegance of natural materials and gemstones, including ones we carefully select on our travels, each piece in our collection is as individual as the person wearing it; no two are ever identical.
Our story began at HTW Berlin, where we first met during fashion design studies. Since then, we have not only been a couple, but also an inseparable team, working together to build a creative collective and studio. format: was created out of a de-sire to merge, reinterpret and transcend the boundaries be-tween various forms of artistic expression—from clothing to tattoos to jewelry; becoming a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration and collective growth.
